So, you’re thinking of buying a project car, that’s awesome! I want to be the first to welcome to the automotive enthusiast club, it’s a lot of fun. Before you buy the car, I recommend you do the following; Check out an automotive restoration show, Motortrend is one of my favorite channels and has some great shows and one in particular that I think shows the most realistic hurdles with project cars is Fantom Works. Watch at least 3 episodes because it accurately reflects the challenges, time involved and the costs that can affect a build or restoration. Now that you’ve done your homework and understand better what it takes complete a project car its time to decide how are you going to tackle it. Will you take it all on yourself? Carburetors aren't dead, there are still plenty of them still out there in use and newer better ones coming out every year. Fuel Injection is popular for sure but carbs have their place. If you have a carbureted motor there are plenty of tips and tricks to working with it and keeping you running smooth. But each brand is different, Carter, Weber, Holly and the list goes on, look for a book specific to your carburetor it will be well worth the money. Worse case, bring it in to us! we already know the tricks

Fred Beyer was the automotive shop, machine shop and welding instructor at Shawano High School in Shawano, Wisconsin. Beyer realized that his shop students were walking away from entering the trades and needed to do something that would get students motivated.
